A few months back I uploaded an article about aftercare instructions for your lash extensions. As I’ve said, the most important thing is not to get them wet, especially when they’re just new. Keep them dry, as much as possible, for at least 48 hours since the glue still needs time to set. This means that physical activities and swimming are a no-no within 48 hours. Physical activities will make you sweat, and sweat can break down the glue. And swimming, well, they can wet your new lash extensions. Chlorine will also damage the adhesive on your lashes. If you wish to swim after a few days, wear goggles to protect your eyes. If you are chef or work near ovens and and any kind of heat this can also affect your eyelashes.
You also have to remember that each lash follows its own lash cycle. If your eyelash extension was attached during your natural lashes’ Telogen Phase, or resting phase, then it’s more likely to fall off soon. However, you never really know the start or end of a specific lash cycle is, so it’s still best to care for your lashes with caution.
Another thing that may cause your lashes to fall out is if you constantly rub your eyes. Not only it may cause your lashes to fall out sooner, but it will also cause premature wrinkles. You may also consider the way you sleep since there are some that love to sleep on their tummy, don’t be surprise to see a few of your extensions on your pillow.
Few other things to keep in mind when you have eyelash extensions: avoid using oil-based make-up products, remove any make-up after use, and groom your lashes with a special brush to keep them from sticking to each other.
Remember that the aftercare instructions are not for your technician’s benefit, they’re for your eyelashes. Follow them by heart, and you’ll be sure to avoid them from falling out anytime soon.
